Our Year 9 Councillors have been a particularly active group this year, organising charity events and contributing to the school community; embracing their role as advocates and custodians of King Edward’s. With that in mind and supporting the values of Cheviot Learning Trust the Y9 Council, supported by our Senior Students, took part in an activity filled day of citizen science, learning about what we can do locally to improve our environment. This event was supported by NCC, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, and Morpeth Lions, as well as KEVI staff and past students!
Feedback from Mayor, Rachel Hogg was excellent. She really enjoyed being with the students, hearing their views. She was very impressed with their insights into youth provision in the town and is very keen to come back and have future sessions with them to let them have their say on the town. Deputy Mayor, long-time KEVI supporter and alumnus, Wendy thought this was the best event that we’d ever run; high praise indeed.
Our popular and active School Council is run by Sheila Clark, without whom none of these opportunities would be possible. The students really benefit from the experience, enthusiasm and wisdom Sheila brings – thank you.
