Year 9 Team Building

16th October 2024Jump Marketing

At The King Edward VI School, we value learning in addition to and beyond an academic curriculum.  We advocate for all of our students to develop attributes of Accomplished Students; where we recognise success in addition to academic outcomes. It is important for us to provide opportunities outside of the classroom where students can develop and demonstrate their resilience, responsibility, respect, care, curiosity and motivation; all of which provide a valuable foundation for success after school.

When students join us in Year 9, they arrive from three main feeder schools. It is important that students, alongside their tutor, quickly develop strong and positive working relationships. In order to support this development, all students in Year 9 took part in a morning or afternoon of team building with their peers.

The event itself took place over 3 days with all 12 tutor groups having some great fun, whilst developing problem solving and leadership skills. We even had great weather for 2 out of the 3 days!

A huge thank you to our parents who contributed a donation and the Foundation Governors for supporting us to provide this opportunity for our students.

KEVI Rugby – Season Openers

16th October 2024Jump Marketing

Our U18s travelled down to Emmanuel College for the second round of the national Bowl competition. The team were full of confidence after recent successful outings against Kings Priory and Dame Allan’s B.

Emmanuel College proved to be a physical test right from the beginning as they had several strong runners, however, the first try from J. Dinning helped settle the nerves. Follow up tries from B. Barakat and T. Thompson meant KEVI gained a great control of the game before Emmanuel College finally got one back just on the stroke of half time after KEVI defended their try line tirelessly for 10 straight minutes.

Second half tries scored by A. Chappell and C. Woodcock helped KEVI extend their lead before conceding to an electric winger in the final moments.

Community Links

14th October 2024Jump Marketing

Committed to working with our community partners we are delighted to welcome Morpeth Rotary Club into assemblies in the coming weeks. The Rotary Club has supported a number of students with their own fundraising for projects like M10, providing opportunities for Post 16 students to develop their own leadership skills via the RYLA programme and made charitable donations to a number of organisations our students are affiliated with.

To support our mission to develop Accomplished Students, Rotary Club have spoken to students about their Young Writer, Young Photography and Young Artist competitions.

The theme of the competition this year is ‘Wonderful Water’ and this has many links to a number of curricula in school. The prizes for the winning entrants are workshops with local experts; great for supporting students early career development.

Information packs are available from [email protected] or applications form and privacy notices can be found here.

We are also supporting the Wrap Up campaign where preloved winter coats can be donated in school between 15 – 24 October.

KEVI Inspires XI

8th October 2024Jump Marketing

2024 brings with it the 11th incarnation of our hugely popular careers event. KEVI Inspires is an opportunity for our students and their families to explore life beyond King Edward’s and see the benefits of becoming truly Accomplished Students who have a wealth of opportunity before them.

Pot 16 and Post 18 pathways can feel bewildering and daunting, but speaking to previous students and long-time associates of the event, students and families can be inspired and informed about their choices.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of the exhibitors, many of whom have attended every single KEVI Inspires event. We literally could not do it without their support. We look forward to seeing all of our King Edward’s community at the event on Thursday 24 October.
