Y11 Final Revision Sessions

We have been really impressed with the hard work and attitude of Year 11 as they have started their GCSE exams.

To help support our Year 11 students further, we have scheduled some final revision sessions for students after half term. The timetable is linked here. This timetable has also been emailed directly to students.

The sessions are available to all students and we would encourage as many students to attend as possible. However, we understand that some students may want to continue with their final exam preparation at home.

If students are planning to attend these sessions they will need to be in full school uniform and sign in at either of the reception entrances using the electronic sign in machine. They should then go straight to the venue highlighted on the linked timetable.

Year 12 Students Selected to Train as Part of North U18 RFU Squad

Huge congratulations to Charlotte Young and Emma Gerrard in Year 12 who have both recently been selected to train as part of the North U18 RFU Squad, in preparation for trails for the England U18 Six Nations Squad.
Both students play for Morpeth RFU U18 Team and were selected to trial for The North East Centre of Excellence. Both Charlotte and Emma passed selection and got into the squad, successfully playing against Sale Sharks, Loughborough Lightning, Yorkshire CofE and Worcester Warriors, winning 3 out of 4 matches. Both students were selected for a second time and played against Saracens, Harlequins and Bristol Bears, winning 2 out of 3 games, with their team against Harlequins being voted as match of the day.

We wish both students every success whilst training as part of the North U18 RFU Squad and up and coming trials for the England U18 Six Nations Squad.

Student Alice rides for Pony Club England

Student Alice Randall has been riding for the Pony Club England team at Royal Windsor and she is now also part of the pageant. The last month has been a whirlwind for her as she has been up and down the country for training and competition.

England were Reserve champions in the competition and the team rode amazingly, despite some setbacks. Being part of the pageant was unbelievable and all the Pony Club kids had a role to play in the performance every night.

Alice has been alongside celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Catherine Jenkins and even got a wave from the Queen she was so close! Along with this, Alice was also interviewed by ITV! We are so proud of her and wish her luck in the future. Well done Alice!

 

Gymnastics Success for James

Congratulations to James Ash in Year 11 who has been selected to attend the European Championships in Luxembourg in September. James has been attending Benfield Centre for Sport and performing in gymnastics since he was 5 years old.
James will be a part of the Junior Men’s Team at the event which runs between the 14th and 17th September 2022.  He is part of Team Gym where he will perform vault, trampette, floor and tumble.
We are very proud of James’ success to date and  all wish James the very best of luck in this significant competition.

Y11 Leavers Update

GCSE exams have now begun and students will attend school as normal until Friday 27 May. Prior to study leave students should continue to register as normal with their tutor before any morning exam.  Friday 27 May will be the last time that the students are in school as a full year group and we will mark this occasion by holding a small celebration event immediately after their final exam.

Finally, on behalf of all at The King Edward VI School can I take this opportunity to extend my best wishes to all Year 11 students and wish them the very best success in the forthcoming examinations and for the future. We are really looking forward to seeing the students who are returning to our Sixth Form in September. 

For those not returning, we wish you all the very best as you move on to new challenges. Please come back to see us and share your successes with us, not just next year but in years to come. The King Edward VI School is part of you and each of you will stay part of us. Thank you for all the contributions you have made to make the school what it is.
