28th April 2022Mrs L Rayne

You are invited to our Transition Evening, which will take place at The King Edward VI School on Thursday 26 May 2022, from 5.30pm until 7.00pm.

The purpose of the evening is to:

  • Outline the transition process from Year 9 into Year 10
  • Outline the option courses in Year 10 and 11, and how to help your child specifically in the subjects they have chosen to study

There will be an opening presentation followed by a carousel of four workshops for you to attend with your child.

PHSE Relationships and Sex Education

25th April 2022Mrs L Rayne

This term we will spend some time in school further developing our Relationships and Sex education provision, to enable our students to more fully understand the challenges that they face growing up in today’s society.

Assemblies next week will focus on sexual harassment, with a particular focus on online abuse. Following the assembly, students will be given an opportunity (via Google Classroom) to complete a questionnaire which will give us an insight into the experiences of teenagers in our school. This is an optional survey, but I am keen that we receive as many completed versions as possible, to further inform our curriculum, teaching and supervision arrangements.

In addition to the work we are doing in school, I encourage you to explore this topic with your child. This link to the Children’s Commissioner website provides helpful information that could form the basis of your discussions.

COVID Update from CEO

7th April 2022Mrs L Rayne

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, set
out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April. In
line with this, the DfE has updated the specific advice for schools which we
will follow from Monday 25 April, following the Easter break.

The key principle of the updated guidance is that Covid is to be managed in
the same way as other respiratory illnesses. The UK Health Security Agency
(UKHSA) health protection in education and childcare settings, contains an
alphabetic list of infectious diseases.

Non School Uniform Day 8 April 2022

4th April 2022Mrs L Rayne

We will be holding a non – uniform day on Friday 8 April.

We would encourage all students to contribute £1 which will be forwarded to the Disasters Emergency Committee to provide Humanitarian Aid for the millions of Ukrainians seeking sanctuary in other countries.

Parents are able to pay this amount via School Gateway or alternatively, students can bring £1 into school and give this to their tutor.

The letter issued to all parents/carers can be read in full here.
